College Guidance Sessions
This service is designed to simplify the college process and provide the entire family with a clear sense of direction. I will meet with your family, learn the nuances of your individual situation, and answer your questions based on my expertise. I will then help you to create a college list and identify exactly what you need to do to prepare excellent applications. As a follow-up, you can choose either to schedule more guidance sessions or have me write up a personalized packet of recommended colleges, a detailed application strategy, and a timeline of the student's workflow.

I have successfully mentored over 200 students on the college essay. It is my specialty and my passion! As an English teacher, I am an expert in writing composition: brainstorming, outlining, drafting, and editing. I do not view the college essay as a simple "box to check." I believe that writing the college essay is the perfect opportunity for students to reflect on their own lives and feel proud of who they are. For this reason, I encourage students to write the essay as one of the first steps of the entire college process. Ethically, I am committed to teaching and editing in a way that preserves the student's role as the sole author of the piece. I am also committed to teaching long-term writing skills that the student can apply to many different contexts in the future.
